This is the first pst of the speed cube review blog and hopefully will have much more in the future. There won’t be too many reviews but just other things cube related. There are already some amazing cube reviewers out there and they are doing a great job on that front. With the Gans 357 getting much more attention these days thanks to a certain speed cuber I wanted to take a look at the different springs that are available as replacements. I’ve already replaced the stickers with colors I prefer from TheCubicle The cube comes with 9 mm springs but you can also get 8 mm and 11 mm. I order these from the cubicle.us. Without going into too much detail the cube with the regular Springs feels quite loose and flimsy. This is not a bad thing though because of it’s design. Even though it has a very loose feel it does not feel like it will be coming apart anytime soon. The square corners really help hold it together and surprisingly do not feel like the effect corner cutting at all. With the 8 mm springs and it feels very similar to the 9 mm. The cube is just as fast but hasn’t even a lighter crispier feel to it. It is not a ton more noticeable but does have an effect With the 11 mm springs the cube feels completely different. The springs make the cube feel very similar to other cubes on the market. It has a very solid feel and eliminates the flimsy feel almost completely. The springs allow you to have the cube on a little bit looser tensions and still stay together. It doesn’t have the light crispiness that it does with the eight and 9 mm Springs but it doesn’t completely do away with it either. Think of the feeling of the cube as if you tighten the regular Springs much farther down but were able to still corner cut just as much. I really like the 11 mm springs and it might be because I am coming off of an Aolong V2. It feels very solid and a bit more comfortable to use. I would say the springs are definitely worth a purchase if you like experimenting with tensions.
