This thing cuts both ways as well as any other new cube on the market. The corners are not square like on the Gans, or MeiYing so it does have a tendency to corner twist once every hundred solves depending on your tension.
This cube is amazing for the price and I enjoy it more than most of the other cubes in my collection. I did spend more time trying to find the right tensions and lubrication than any other cube before it. I can see why there is so much hype about this cube. It is not a premium feeling cube but it does its job and it does it well. |

The Thunderclap is truly an amazing cube. This cube has a lot to offer. It's quite fast, but can easily be slowed down with some lube. It corner cuts just 45 degrees, but that doesn't affect it's performance. It rarely locks up. However, corner twists are common which is my only current con to this cube. In addition, this cube comes at a revolutionary price for it's quality, with shops like Cubezz selling at $5.50 or so. My final rating is five stars.
(P.S. It comes with a nice black bag.)

Out of the box, it's really good. It's very smooth but not buttery like the Gans 356. It's a fast cube but can be slowed down with lube. Corner cutting is exceptional, past 45 regular with minimal effort and 2/3 of a piece on reverse, also with minimal effort. Once broken in with 100+ solves and lubed and tensioned correctly, the cube reaches it's full potential. The cube can pretty much be set up to your preference and responds VERY well to lube. It removes all locking and flows very well. It also has a low price. For only $9, it's a definite steal.

This is the best cube I have ever tried.INSTANT MAIN!!! It does corner twist a bit.but It is also very fast. There is ALSO AMAZING CORNER CUTTING ON THIS THING and you don't have to set it up.

The cube was very interesting. When out of the box there were a lot of pops and very fast for me but after breaking in, tensioning, and lubing (Speedcubeshop weight 1 3cc) (i know it makes my cube faster but it made it a bit slower for my kind of taste) it became amazing. The corner cutting was still the same with 45 degrees and over and 2/3 reverse but no line to line. There isn't a lot of popping, corner twist, and lockups but I think it's because of my turning style. So far the cube is really great. Do I recommend it though? Well the Answer is yes it has a really nice sound to it and would definitely recommend to the faster solvers. For the beginners I prefer something slower for you guys but that's my opinion and thank you.Bye!!

I received this cube around three months ago; I love it! Out of the box, it was a bit sluggish, lacked in corner cutting, locked up frequently and popped on the occasion.
So I broke in the cube, doing about 100 solves, and dismantled the cube. Following that I tensioned the cube and lubed it (weight 5) on both the core and the pieces; then the cube became good, in fact fantastic. It could easily cut 45° and over to a point in which it just cuts in reverse, which it can also cut through flawlessly. The cube also became incredibly smooth and unpoppable.
It immediately became my main (over the Weilong GTS, GuoGuan YueXiao, Cong's Design MeiYing, Gans 356s v2 and the X-Man Design Tornado).
To put it simply: This cube is amazing.

It is a very light, flexible and fast. Corner-cutting is great and can not lockup easily. Corner-cuts over 45 degrees and has only 60 grams. I do recommend getting the stickerless edition as its bright shades are perfect .

This cube dosn't pop even if you tried to pop it. It is known for being used for blindfolded solving

This cube was very fast out of the box. Could corner cut 45 and could reverse about three-fourths of a piece which is very good in my opinion.
I lubed the springs w/ traxxas 50k to make it smoother & to get rid of the spring noise. Then I loosened it just a little. It made it buttery smooth & a tad bit faster. Corning cutting got better; it could do a little over 45 and revrse could now go a little bit farther. Definitely recommend this cube. It is currently my main 3x3 and might be yours, too.

Best cube in the market for only $9. It s very fast but it's still controllable to some extent. It's speed is only second to the weilong and this doesn't pop. It probably pops less than the fangshi

The reason I like this cube is its amazing performance and incredibly cheap price. Coming at a price of 9 dollars, its pretty much cheaper than other 3x3s and its performance is really amazing compared to anything else on the market. It's corner cutting is really amazing and the cube can cut over 45 degrees. In terms of speed, this cube is really fast. This is a pretty smooth and buttery cube and feels very similar to the MoYu Aolong v2. The cube doesn't corner twist or pop at all because of its amazing design, locking is minimal. Overall, this cube really good in terms of performance and price and I would highly recommend it to everyone else.

The Thunderclap is one of the best 3x3s out there. It's extremely customizable. The Thunderclap can either be very clacky or buttery and quiet. If one wants the crunchy feel, a lighter lube applied sparingly is good. For a quieter feel, overlube with heavy lube. This cube is extremely fluid and decently fast, but still very controllable
R. Karry (3/3/16)
This is a very good cube but it is very springy. Lubing is necessary to get rid of the noise. It is amazing out of the box. Great for beginners.

Overall a great cube, would recommend it to all. Corner cutting is average, nothing too special. Speed is fast, but remains controllable. You can turn at a very high speed without losing control of this cube. 1 big negative to this cube is the corner twists, it happens to me once every 30 or so solves. My new main as of now
C. Tannahill (2/26/16)
The cube started a little slow but after a few sovles it turned out to be really fast. Corner twisting can occur but not that often. I previously had a dayan zhanchi so it took a bit to get used to the feel of the cube but overall it is really good.

The qiyi thunderclap is light speedy and corner cuts great the lockup prevention is great being a member of qiyi myself I know that our thunderclap is nothing like the bullfight or the newisalnd series I would definitely recommend this cube for beginer speedcubers all the way to advanced I got my best time with this being 9.23 this is a great option

I really love this cube and it was my main. Excuse me, IS my main. I love this cube so much for the price and the performance. It is the best cube for It's price in my opinion.

I've had this cube for two weeks now and it is by far the best 3x3 in my collection. I just can't find anything wrong with it, It is the perfect speed, has amazing corner cutting, never locks up, only 1/75 solves has a corner twist and it has never popped on me. All of this plus the $8 price and a free bag makes it by far the best 3x3 on the market in my opinion.

This cube is awesome!
This cube is the best cube you can get for the price! It's better that my Yuxin by a long shot. First of all aesthetically the cube has good (not amazing stickers) Moyu shades, with an enjoyable "bubbly" feel. Turn wise it is great! It is bumpy smooth and a scratchy moyu feel when turning slowly and clacky when fast. Corner cutting is just as good as a Yuxin with slightly more force needed to cut cleanly. This puzzle does not lock up or catch unless your corner cutting beyond its abilities. M slices are beyond par. No problems once so ever with the puzzle. It is about 55mm which is noticeable while solving, it is my OH main. The cube us fluent, and is perfect for my rough turning style. This cube is highly recommended with no complaints. Normally I put cons but cannot because of the enjoyment of this puzzle. For $9 it is more than a steal.

The QiYi Thunderclap Stickerless is one of the cheapest 3x3s out there and it is amazing. It is very smooth and crispy at the same time, giving it stability and a good speed. The cube can easily cut cut 45 and its reverse is really nice at 4/5 of a cubie. Locking is generally not a problem but happens occasionally. Corner twists and popping can be completely disregarded since they will probably never happen with most tensions. I think the color scheme of this cube is a lot better than the QiYi Bullfight and I'm not gonna complain about it.
I would say this is a great cube, among the ever so popular Dayan stickerless cubes, only cheaper.

The QiYi ThunderClap, also known as the NewIsland Lightning, is, in my opinion, one of the best and most underrated cubes currently on the market, especially considering it is so inexpensive. The cube has a buttery smooth feel similar to that of a Moyu WeiLong, with the slightly more stable feel of the Moyu HuaLong. This, combined with the slightly clacky sound of the cube makes it extremely pleasant to play with. This cube is extremely fast, so some users, especially those with more aggressive turning styles, may find this cube difficult to control. Corner cutting on this cube far exceeds what any user would require. The cube can easily corner cut well over 45 degrees, and reverse cuts about 3/4ths of a cubie. Out of the box, the cube was rather blocky and catchy feeling, so lock-ups were occurring frequently. After breaking in, however, this issue has disappeared almost completely. Furthermore, I have never received a pop on this cube. Corner twists are not an issue on this cube, either, though I have experienced one or two during solves. Overall, I think this is an excellent speedcube, and I would recommend it to any cuber that is comfortable controlling fast cubes like the Moyu AoLong V1, the FangShi GuangYing, or the Yuxin 3x3
