Out of the box this cube was smooth but a bit sluggish. This is probably because (as is about commonplace with all higher-ordered ShengShou puzzles) it was heavily lubed. Although despite that, I heard a lot of spring noise (meaning the core is not lubed). After cleaning out all the lube and adjusting the cube, it now turns a lot faster. This puzzle does not corner twist whatsoever. Normal corner cutting is standard for a 5x5 of its time but REVERSE is basically non-existent because there are no Florian cuts in the pieces. But overall this is a very decent cube with an amazing price tag.
This cube was pretty slow out of the box. After some lubing and tensioning, this cube became fantastic. The main feature of this cube is that it is fast as well as controllable. I have done nearly 200- 300 solves. I did not get a SINGLE corner twist. Reverse corner cutting and popping is where the cube faults. Overall, I would give 4 stars for this cube. If there were no popping and if there was good corner cutting ,this cube would have been a GREAT one.

I think this is a good 5x5 for starters. But not for pro speed cubers

The ShengShou 5x5 is one of the cheapest 5x5 speedcubes on the market. Let's see if it's you're better off getting a higher quality cube.
Out of the box, the 5x5 is actually surprisingly good. It feels really firm and not about to fall apart. The turning is smooth, and corner cutting acceptable. The biggest downside for me is the speed. Even after lubing and adjusting the tension, it still felt a bit too slow. It's also never popped on me
Overall, I would definitely recommend this cube. It's really inexpensive, and feels high quality. It's certainly not the best 5x5 on the market, but for the price you can't go wrong.

The Shengshou is a really nice 5x5. It is structurally sound (rarely pops) and has a good speed while also being slightly gummy. The biggest issue this cube has is locking up though. Unless you florian mod the cube you will get a lot of catches with the pieces. IFor the price it is still very nice, but if you are willing to spend a little more there are better 5x5s on the market.
